a ship sunk in scent (英訳版 香りに沈んだ船)

a ship sunk in scent

That was a long time ago, or another time.
A number of mysterious pieces of wood were washed up on a certain island.
It's as light as a feather in your hand, but sinks when you put it in water. And as I put it in my pocket, a beautiful scent rises up from a piece of wood warmed by human skin.
Fascinated by this fragrant piece of wood, the people of the island set out on a voyage. He desperately wanted to know where the piece of wood had come from.
He goes around from port to port, asking if anyone knows what this tree is. The person who asked also wanted to leave the fragrant and mysterious tree and joined the journey. The voyage, which began on a small island, soon became a large group of people.
As the ship fills up with people, a scent similar to that of a piece of wood begins to waft in the air. The ship advanced toward the scent.
It was a well flourished port. There were buildings in the harbor town that were filled with people. The ship continued on its way, even when it was on land, toward the most powerfully scented building. The ship was silently swallowed up by that building, which the inhabitants called a "fortress".
